Gosh, I didn't realise that post was a week overdue. Time is flying this summer! That's because I have an amazing opportunity to learn Torah from some really great teachers, and writing Torah isn't much good if you don't also learn Torah, so I'm making the most of that opportunity. Combining that with DE's Torah means that half the time I barely know what day it is. I've learned some good things, though, which I'll be sharing over the next few months.

How much of the Torah is done?
The Project
Congregation Dorshei Emet has commissioned a new Torah; the first one in Canada that will be scribed by a woman. This history-making undertaking will be called Torat Imeinu, and will be a big part of the celebration of our Jubilee Year.
The Scribe
- Jen Taylor Friedman
- Jen Taylor Friedman is a post-denominational halakhically-observant egalitarian Jewish ritual scribe and scholar. She is notorious for having created Tefillin Barbie, and notable for being the first woman in modern times known to have written a sefer Torah. In 2007, the Forward listed her as a Top 50 Jew. She lives in New York City and teaches aspiring scribes. Dorshei Emet's Torah is her third Torah scroll.
